Then maybe the next time your friends try and get you on the latest fad diet you will be able to teach them a thing or two.
Most foods in their natural state are quite good for the human body. However, the addition of chemical and food additives during typical food processing often kills the goodness of many foods. Our bodies were not designed to handle all of the unnatural processing that takes place today. Many of the foods we eat are causing long term effects like cancer and other major diseases. The more natural the food the better for you. Just because it’s a fruit or vegetable doesn’t mean its packed with nutrients.
Follow these four steps and you will be on your way to a healthy ab diet.
* Consume quality protein in large amounts. You will burn more calories by the simple act of consuming protein. Foods rich in protein require more work to digest. In addition the protein builds muscle which also need energy to maintain and grow. As this energy is used calories are being burnt. If you have ever heard that eating 6 small meals a day is good for you its true. Your energy level is maintained throughout the day, you don’t crave junk food, and you burn more calories through the process of digestion.
* Consume high fiber foods. Carbohydrates that are rich in fiber help satisfy your food cravings. Try and stay within 2 or 3 grams of fiber for every 10 grams of carbohydrates you consume. Remember that foods that are rich in sugar are poor in fiber. They may taste good, but have little nutritional value. You want to try and get your fiber from unrefinded foods like organic vegetables, fruits, and grains.
* Some fat is good. Fat free diets can be damaging to the human body. Here are some good sources of fat. Organic meats, fish, nuts, olive oil, egg yolks, and seeds. Remember that fat gives us many of the vitamins and minerals that our body needs to function. Get rid of all fat and you create vitamin and mineral deficiencies.
* Avoid these items at all cost. Sweetened food items which are high in fructose corn syrup. Artificial trans fats which the body does not need. Trans fats are primarily man made food additives found in margarines, shortening, and hydrogenated oils. The easiest way to avoid these damaging substances is to stay away from processed foods.
