Tips for Renting a Holiday Apartment in the Balearics
There are numerous different kinds of holiday apartments in the Balearics which one can choose to stay in. You can either choose to stay in ones which allow you to just spend time relaxing on the beach or else go for one that is located in the very heart of San Antonio.
When it comes to actually finding your ideal accommodation when holidaying on one of these islands then the best place to start your search is online. But it is important that if you choose this way of booking your accommodation, you take your time and do some research before hand.
Along with booking accommodation through the owners of apartments directly, there are plenty of companies who provide such a service as well. Certainly, choosing to book through such companies offers you a little more security. When it comes to booking through these companies there are certain things which one needs to take into consideration, below we look at what these things are.
Firstly, when you are booking accommodation through a holiday rental company you need to be aware that you will have to pay a deposit when you book to ensure that the accommodation is reserved for you. On average when making such a booking you will be expected to pay around 30% of the total cost of the accommodation that you are renting. However, you should also know that if you have to cancel at any time after making the booking some companies will only refund a small part of the deposit paid, whilst others may not return any of the deposit to you at all.
If you want to ensure that you do get your deposit monies returned if you have to cancel your reservation for reasons that are out of your control then taking out some kind of cancellation protection insurance is a good idea. So when making a booking see which companies offer this and which do not and go with those that do. Normally, when you take out this kind of protection you will be expected to pay a fee of around 5% of the total cost of the rental price.
Many rental companies will offer the accommodation in one particular currency on their sites, but are more than willing to allow you to make payments with another. But you need to be aware of the currency exchange rates at the time of booking as this can seriously effect just how much you pay for your accommodation.
If paying by credit card your provider will then convert the currency where you live to the currency that you need to pay in at the exchange rate that is available on the day of the transaction. So be wary as you may find yourself paying far more than you would have expected for the accommodation.
Another couple of factors, which need to be taken into consideration in relation to how much you pay for holiday apartments in the Balearics, is where they are located and when you will be staying. Certainly if you intend to visit these islands at the height of the summer season then expect to pay considerably more than if you were visiting during the winter or spring months. Also you may find that staying in resorts like Ibiza are going to be considerably more than if you choose a much more secluded location.
