Liberty On The Outside, Freedom On The Inside
Ellie Drake, a world-famous motivational speaker, came from a humble background in Iran. While living in Iran, she was told many times to give up on having dreams. No one there could be successful. Giving up just wasn’t in her blood, though. She would later come to America knowing barely a word of English and live out the American Dream.
Ellie Drake had always dreamed of coming to America, the “free world” she had heard so much about. As a child, she wanted to learn English so badly that she would take out a dictionary and memorize one word per day during her long walk to school. She couldn’t pronounce the words she read, but she became very familiar with them.
Ellie began the first day of the rest of her life when her parents finally brought her to America. She knew that with her inner passion, and with America’s liberties, she would be unstoppable on her quest for success.
Passion has to be a growing flame in your heart in order to be successful. Passion and success go hand in hand, of course, but they definitely aren’t the same things. Success is making a living doing what you love, not just making a living. The richest person in the world is the poorest without any passion.
Ellie Drake was very successful in American schools. Her parents told her she would become a doctor so that she could make enough money to care for them. Ellie DID become a doctor, but she wasn’t passionate about that choice. She didn’t enjoy her job. She didn’t look forward to springing out of bed in the morning for another day of practicing medicine. She wanted more out of life.
Ellie handed her medical diploma to her parents one day and told them she wouldn’t be returning to medicine. She wanted to be a speaker and entrepreneur even if it meant failing time after time before finding success. “What doesn’t kill us makes us stronger,” she thought to herself. She knew she had enough passion to shake off the dirt each time she fell on her road to success.
Too many people wonder how to make a living while following their passions. Ellie doesn’t look at it that way. She encourages audiences of all sorts to focus on passion rather than money. Focusing on money brings debt. Focusing on passion brings happiness, fulfillment, and money.
When Ellie decided not to be a doctor, but rather follow her speaking passion, she was under a great deal of debt. She had $115,000 in credit card debt and $150,000 in student loan debt. She didn’t focus on the debt, though. She focused on following her passions. Today, with the help of BraveHeart Productions, she empowers women and executives to achieve their American Dream as well.
