There are a number of computer schools in the United States that teach computer courses and these schools continue to spring up due to the mounting need for proficient Information Technology (IT) professionals.

Since there are many places of learning to choose from, it’s worth it to take the time to decide on the computer school that is best. When searching for the top computer education, take into account the reputation of the school, the availability of courses, the type of studies, whether the courses cover the latest technology, the student to teacher ratio, and the graduation rate of the computer school. Most of this information can be found in leaflets, pamphlet, or the individual school’s website.

Although individual schools may have their course information easy to get it’s still a taxing process to organize it all into meaningful comparisons among the choices of school. Added to this, you’ll still have to compare all that to your own needs to arrive at your top computer school. However, where there’s need, there’s an opportunity, and several companies have stepped in to produce annual data on the various schools and courses offered, then put these results into one index. The US News and World Report is an example of one such service that surveyed over 2000 schools in 2006 and then created a report of the various degree, course, and student statistics.

Based on their survey, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology; Carnegie Mellon University; University of Illinois-Urbana-Champaign; Princeton University; Cornell University; Rice University; University of Wisconsin-Madison; University of Pennsylvania; Harvard University; University of California-Los Angeles; Columbia University; Stanford University; the University of California, Berkeley; University of Washington; are some of the top institutions in the United States of America, in the Information Technology field.

There are some online computer institutes that also offer licensing, bachelor, and associate degrees in IT; to name a few, DeVry University, ITT Technical Institute and the University of Phoenix. These online computer schools provide in depth education via their computer training schools, computer graphic schools, computer hardware schools, computer science schools and many other programs.
