Fun Baby Shower Games
There are literally hundreds of different games that you can play at a baby shower, some are fun and some and not. If you are planning a baby shower or even wondering what will be done at your own I have decided to compile a list of some of the baby shower games that you can play.
The Name Game The name game is a simple but fun game that can be played when the parents have already chosen their baby’s name and are willing to share it will the guests. To play the game you will need the name, pens and paper. The guests will take the letters of the name or names to form new words. You can either have it as a times game or a game that they can add to during the party until the sheets are picked up. The winner of the game can be chosen through a random drawing, the best answers or the most unique answers.
Mother’s Weight Warning. This is not a game for every party. You need to make sure the mother to be is comfortable with the game before deciding to play this one. Every guest will try to guess the mother-to-be’s weight and the closest to wins a prize. You may also want to give a prize to the one who guesses the least (a surprise prize from the guest of honor) or who guesses the most, a prize for blindness or honesty.
Baby Bottle Bowling Bowling at a baby shower sounds a little dangerous. Honestly it can be fun! Set up baby bottles filled with either a liquid or a solid (like baby cereal), so the bottles are a little heavier. The contestants use a “bowling ball” to knock down the pins. Suitable balls include street hockey balls and tennis balls. You can play a certain amount of frames, or one frame, most strikes in three throws. This game can be a creative as you want it to be. The winner wins the prize.
Word Scramble. The word scramble is a game that can easily be played by everyone. To create a word scrabble start by making a list of baby or pregnancy related words, then scramble them up. Make sure to use both easy words and more challenging ones. The guests will have a time limit to unscramble as many words as possible. The person with the most words wins.
Not Allowed Not allowed is a fun game to play at a baby shower. At the beginning of the shower you need to let all the guests know what words, phrases or actions are not allowed. This could be crossing your legs, or swearing or saying a certain name. Then you can pass out a baby related item such as pacifiers to the guests. Let the guests know that they each get one pacifier and if they see another guest doing an action or saying a phrase which is not allowed that they can then steal all of their pacifiers. Near the end of the party you can collect and count the pacifiers. The person with the most wins.
Baby Advice Game This game is a way for the guests to share their insights with the new parents. From the time a woman announces her pregnancy on, everyone, including perfect strangers, wants to help her by giving unsolicited advice. At some point, usually rather soon, a women stops listening. BY having this game people can share advice that the parents will at least consider. You should buy a special book or make shapes like hearts or flowers out of large construction paper. Let the guests each write down whatever they want, advice, stories, etc., for the mother. The parents can read them later when they are willing to listen to what everyone has to say.
The above games are literally just the tip of the iceberg; there are so many different games that can be played at a baby shower. Baby showers can be fun but thy can also be hectic. Before making a decision on which games to play it is a good idea to ask the mother to be how she feels about each game.
