Acupuncture, The Alternative Medicine

For over 2000 years a method of healing called acupuncture was widely used in China, and is still used today. Finally it is accepted as an alternative medicine or practice. But in 1972 President Richard Nixon traveled to China and there, acupuncture was discovered by the western world and news traveled fast to the rest of the globe.

Acupuncture is based on the 12 invisible lines of energy that run through the body. These lines of energy or meridians, allow the flow of energy throughout the body. If a line should become blocked, they are believed to cause illnesses such as a disease.

The idea of acupunture is to release those blocked energy lines and allow the Qi (chE) to flow through the body as nature designed it to be. To accomplish this, the acupuncturist uses stainless steel needles to puncture the body. These punctures are placed in specific areas of the body that are known to harbor sensors that produce a response by the body.

This is known as “needle piercing”. Acupuncture stimulates these points in the body and can include additional things such as heat, friction, suction and electromagnetic energy to improve blood circulation and healing.

There is an endless list of ways acupuncture can be used to relieve pain, aid in weight loss, ease arthritis pain and help in the field of fertility.

As early as 40 years ago acupuncture was not well known or believed in the western world. Although the Chinese have been practicing it for centuries, the west was at the bottom of the ladder when believing in the proven results of acupuncture used in medical practice.

If you could reduce the amount of pain you have without the use of prescription medications, would you try it? There are doctors in the medical field that use both acupuncture and prescription pain medication to help their patients rest comfortably. Acupuncture now has licensed professionals that are now legitamately recognized in the medical field.

When looking for a licensed acupuncturist, you should make sure they are licensed with the local medical association. As acupuncture is now a recognized medical field, acupuncturist will need to be licensed in the state they practice.

This is an alternative to many of the medications being used.
