Why do I need to get life insurance?
Well of course you don’t need life insurance. After all, you eat healthily, exercise regularly, don’t smoke, don’t drink, don’t overindulge in anything and are planning on living forever, right? I mean, there are better things to spend money on than life insurance?
This could be perceived as being simplistic thinking because, really, no one knows what awaits them around the next corner and your lifestyle choice is only one part of the equation. You may very well be a careful driver but that doesn’t stop you from insuring your car.
Now while you won’t get a new life from life insurance if you die, you will be able to have a certain easy feeling knowing that your family, the loved ones that you care for and go to work every day to support will be able to manage the day to day financial issues should an untimely event happen to you, which causes the loss of your life.
No, it is absolutely not anything that anyone wants to think about, but it certainly is something that any responsible adult will take time out to take care of, if they truly love the people they care the most for. Losing a loved one is difficult enough when things go smoothly. But on top of funeral arrangements and coping with that loss, think how much more difficult it would be for the person surviving if they also had to think about how they were going to make it through the emotional stress and, on top of that, manage to pay the bills and keep the remainder of the surviving family unit afloat and away from the wolves that might otherwise soon be at the door.
Now you might think that because you have some money in the bank that this will be adequate should the unforeseen occur but it may surprise you just how quickly that money may be eaten into and dwindle as your loved ones pick up the pieces. That is why it is so important to look into the idea of life insurance while you have the time to do so.
Thinking of death, especially when you are a young couple or family, is not something that most people want to do, but it IS something that should actually be on a high priority list of things to do as soon as possible in your adult life, and especially if you are starting that life with another person or persons who are or may become dependent on you.
The Webster’s Dictionary defines an Emergency as a “Sudden occurrence demanding quick action.” The key word there is SUDDEN. You don’t wake up in the morning thinking, that you just know that you are going to be involved in a fatal car crash on the way home from work that night. Let’s be realistic, if you knew that, you would call in sick and stay home. Emergencies come at you fast and you usually have no choice in the matter but to react as your instincts tell you and hope for the best Well, the best reaction to life’s big emergencies, especially with the financial obligations that pile up in life, its to cover yourself with a good life insurance policy.
The old sporting adage goes that the best form of offence is defense. Nowhere could this be more true than when considering life insurance. Through defending yourself with a suitable policy you are protecting your family against the unpredictability of the future and ensuring that they can progress through whatever the future holds.
SO what about you single care free guys and girls out there? You maybe tenants so there is nothing to worry about there and you own a questionable, but paid off or very nearly paid off car and your only real bills in life are the utilities and a couple of moderate limit credit cards. Insurance is a waste of time, right? While it might be true that the bills you have are really nothing to speak of, do you really want to stick your parents with the final expenses? Or would you prefer that everyone think of how responsible you were to get some coverage to make life after your passing easier on everyone?
The choice of life insurance is down to the individual and there are no rules to say that you must get a policy. But if you take a bit of time to consider the possible effects of your death on others you will find that the choice is not a difficult one and that your nearest and dearest will be given the financial help they need should something happen to you.
