Household chores can be very boring and time consuming and not many people look forward to them. Needless to say, cleaning your blinds happens to fall into that category and it is important to clean them or the little dust bunnies will accumulate.

These tips can help you to stop putting off this chore any longer and you will see how easy it can be to clean your blinds.

Your vacuum can be an immense help with this hated chore if you have a brush attachment for it, and this method will eliminate the problem of dust flying everywhere that happens with a duster.

Using socks to clean your blinds is not only creative but real quick too. Put one wet sock over your hand and a dry sock on your other hand. Alternate cleaning your blinds with wet then dry socks and in not time this chore will be done.

A small sized paintbrush is very effective for cleaning your blinds because it fits easily between the slats and the entire surface of the blind can be done in one swipe.

Another option is to take your blinds down from the window and soak them in a sink in hot soapy water with a bit of vinegar. Let them soak for about half an hour to an hour then rinse them off thoroughly and wipe them dry before putting them back up. Please note that if you have wood or cloth blinds do not consider soaking them in water. This method is only suggested for aluminums or vinyl.

As with everything else, you can buy attachments to fit your hand and fingers to help you clean your blinds. You may find that some attachments work better then others or that you may feel you have wasted your money on something that didn’t work the way it was meant to. The best way to keep your blinds clean and looking great all the time is by cleaning them frequently so that the dust and dirt does not accumulate.

If you have blinds made of wood, a dusting spray like pledge can be used with a soft cloth to wipe down the slats and provide a barrier to dust, while nourishing the wood in the process. This will leave your wood shining and new looking, and keep it from drying out or cracking at the same time. No matter what material your blinds are made of, regular cleanings will give them a much longer life.
