Why You Should Visit Orlando, Florida
An Orlando vacation is one of the most popular amongst tourists, but it is much more than just a city tailored for theme park devotees. There are enough shops, markets, museums, art galleries and much more in Orlando to keep even the most ‘difficult to please’ person occupied. Everything a visitor could possibly want is here and the reason why people return year after year.
As one of the most tourist centered cities in the world, Orlando a great deal to offer including large shopping malls, restaurants of every type, night clubs, bars and many specialist shops. Visitors with more than just a passing interest in amusement parks and similar attractions will find themselves at home on a vacation to Orlando owing to the many entertainment venues the city has to offer.
Although zoos have taken a bit of criticism in recent years, their value to education and the preservation of species cannot be dismissed and the Central Florida Zoo in Sanford is one of these. Even though it is privately owned, it is run by a charitable group with the intention of providing classes for children and protecting species that are only found in Florida and other world wide exotic animals.
Back in 1942, the Morse Museum of American Art in Winter Park started exhibiting the world’s most extensive collection of the works of Louis Comfort Tiffany. The collection is the most comprehensive anywhere with Tiffany jewelry, art glass, ornaments, pottery, paintings and leaded glass.
Whilst Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town designed for the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the truth with adults equally well looked after. For the young at heart, Orlando vacations aim to please with extensive evening venues including music and dance at Disney’s incredible Pleasure Island and Universals version, City walk, to name just a couple of places.
If you are more technology and science minded then a trip to the Orlando Science Center will be a must as is a huge complex incorporating 10 halls with exhibitions everything from the Florida Everglades to the plains of Mars. If your preference is in railways then the International Trolley and Train Museum on International drive will be a pleasant surprise with 14 trains running continuously and three waterfalls in a space of about 4,000 square feet.
The Titanic - Ship of Dreams Exhibition can also be found along International Drive; this is a moving, often eerie depiction of the great Ocean Liner with a tour guide depicting a character from the ship with many original items on display. Of course if you prefer something more relaxing then you should visit Lake Eola Park, situated in the heart of downtown; this is the city’s main attraction with 43 acres of beautiful sidewalks and a boating lake.
Now you couldn’t possibly visit Orlando without a trip to the numerous theme parks including Disney World, Universal Studios and of course not to forget the fantastic Sea World. Whatever you want from a vacation, Orlando can supply and you don’t have to work hard at finding it either; next time you are there, try some of the other attractions, you won’t be disappointed.
