How To Increase The Entertainment Value Of The Microsoft Zune
Microsoft unveiled the Zune as a means of enjoying mobile entertainment- primarily for listening to music and audio tracks. But for the average Zune user, the novelty gets old quick. What kinds of accessories and add-ons can one buy to help spice up the Zune, and are they worth the price?
The Zune, like most entertainment devices, has ways to express the owner’s creativity and style. Zune covers can be purchased that have different designs, patterns, and images on them to express one’s sense of personality. Because the Zune has such a wide support from stores, finding a design to fit any personality is possible- although creating your own design and applying it is equally expressive.
The next add-on that is necessary for the average Zune owner is the FM radio transmitter. These optional transmitters will allow Zune owners to transmit audio data to a nearby radio. The process requires a working radio that can be tuned to a frequency not in use. As long as that is obtained, anyone can share their music with friends while on the go or at home.
If audio quality is what catches your fancy, you may wish to invest in the Zune travel pack or the Zune AV pack. Both packs come with cables and necessary equipment for hooking a Zune up to speakers or sound systems. Doing so will allow a Zune to transmit audio signals out of truly powerful speakers- not just the earphones most are accustomed to. While this requires that one already owns the excellent speakers, it’s a small price to pay for exceptional audio quality.
But the sound buffs who enjoy phenomenal sound don’t necessarily like to carry bulky wiring and packaging around. If that’s the case, they may wish to invest in a separate docking station in which to place the Zune. Docking stations commonly connect Zune players to stereo devices and other multimedia displays. This essentially gives the Zune owner a way to play their music without messing with wires or carrying around excess packaging.
The docking platform previously mentioned also has a bulky interface, which isn’t always mobile enough for some Zune users. If a trip or excursion is necessary and the added bulk isn’t viable, earphones may have to be invested in. But Zune users don’t have to settle for less- expensive earphones that specialize in superior audio quality can ensure that a Zune owner gets nothing but the best from their investment.
Final Thoughts
Microsoft released the Zune in hopes that it would send the audio community spiraling into an obsession- and that it did. But once things start to get stale, it’s time to kickstart the functionality of the Zune with the hundreds of accessories available for it. Anything from the FM transmitter to custom designed Zune skins will spice up one’s Zune in unforgettable ways.
