For mothers who are nursing or breastfeeding infants, there are nursing bras specially designed for them. Nursing bras are not your ordinary-looking bras. They have the same style and look but they have additional features. These types of bras help mothers take care of their babies.
Nursing bras have various types and the type that you choose depends greatly on your preferences. What may be advantageous and comfortable for another nursing mother may not be so for you, which is why it is best to take your time shopping for nursing bras.
The following are some of the basic types of nursing bras:
Nursing bras with flaps - If you want to detach the area that covers the breast without having to unlock your bra, then this is perfect for you. It helps you in taking care of your baby by giving you an extra hand since you can clasp and unclasp the flaps using only one hand.
Nursing bras without flaps - A softer fabric is used in this type of nursing bra. By using this type, you can pull aside your nursing bra with relative ease. It is safe and comfortable and you can even use it when you sleep. It is also cheaper compared to those with flaps but it may provide less support to your breasts.
Nursing bras with underwire - It is more expensive than the others in this list but it is definitely worth it since it offers better support. You may feel uncomfortable though because of the restrictions the underwire may bring. Make sure to remove this bra before going to bed.
Nursing bras without underwire - If you have large breasts, then this type is perfect for you. It is more comfortable to use than a nursing bra with underwire and it can also provide the support needed.
Needs are different from wants. It is important to strike a balance between the two in determining what kinds of nursing bra will help you take care of your baby well.
