10 List of What To Do And Not To Do During An Anxiety Attacks

Almost everyone of us once or twice in our lifetime experience an anxiety attacks. Sometimes we don’t even know why it happens. Let’s look at what are the things that we should and should not do under anxiety attacks.

1) Please calm yourself since you are not dying.

If you are thinking that you are going to die, then it will aggravate more fear which lead to more anxiety. It is going to make your situations worse rather than solving it.

2) Do not breathe from your chest. Take a deep breath from the abdomen.

Even under normal circumstances, chest breathing would means that you are in fear. Chest breathing could lead to increase in dizziness and numbness during anxiety attacks.

3) Think positive. There is no place for negative thinking.

Your anxiety attack will get worse if you keep telling yourself negatively such as I am going to faint soon or I won’t be able to breathe.

4) Keep feeding your mind with positive thinking

Just like negative will breed negative, positive will breed positive as well. If you keep feeding your mind with positive thing, it will help you to go through this experience easier.

5) Get help from the health care professionals

There are arrays of health care professionals that should be able to assist you in coping with anxiety attacks. Mental health professionals such as psychiatrist, psychologist, counselors and social workers are always available.

6) Don’t keep the anxiety problems to yourself. Share with your loved one and your close friends.

It is very important for you to share your problems with trusted people around you such as spouse and good friends. Sharing problems with them will make it easy for you to cope with your situations.

7) Follow your doctor’s advice. If you have been prescribed with medication, then take your medication on time and follow the routine that has been scheduled by your health care professionals.

8) Don’t be helpless.

Your life is worthy of living, decorated with beauty and happiness. Pump up your energy level. You are ready to conquer your anxiety problems.

9) Be happy. There are others that are with you.

There are many people out there who have the same experience as yours. Find a support group in your area. You will be surprised to find that there are many people in your shoes. Support group will help to support you emotionally and exchange ideas and experience.

10) Start educating yourself about anxiety and panic attacks.

There are abundant of learning materials that you can benefit from. Countless to say from printed materials such as books and magazines to electronic materials such as CD’s and DVD’s
