Top Spots to See in Paris
Very few cities in Europe can compete with Paris as a romantic destination; with over 30 million foreign visitors annually it is a very popular destination. Renowned for its modern art and breathtaking scenery a short stay in Paris is the ideal location for a romantic weekend break; most people promise to return as so much they wanted to see will have been missed.
It is known for its wonderful buildings, style, excellent food and wine; it is the home of the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other famous tourist attractions. Fortunately for tourists, Paris has a first rate transportation system; the Metro underground train network will probably be the main method as it runs regularly and reaches every part of the city.
No visit would be complete without a trip to the top of the almost 1,000 feet tall Eiffel tower; it can be seen from any point within the city and the superb views just can’t be matched by those looking at it from the ground. Illuminated in the evening, it is one of the most beautiful sights in the entire city; if you are really enthusiastic you can take a tour where the guide will tell you how this beautiful tower was built.
A trip down the Champs Elysees is encouraged when you visit Paris as this is the city’s most famous street; with shops, cafes, and restaurants littered along the wide pavements, it is a ‘must see’ for every visitor. This avenue may be select but it attracts large numbers of visitors daily; the average tourist may find the accommodation expensive but more modest hotels can be found away from this area.
The city’s famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time; with almost a third of a million exhibits, you will not be able to see everything in one trip. Visitors on short stays in Paris could easily be overwhelmed; the Mona Lisa is one such world famous work of art which should not be missed. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists; these include Monet and Picasso who very fortunately left some of their work here for all to enjoy.
Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century; engraved with the names of generals that commanded his troops, it has become a popular photo spot for tourists visiting Paris. Many people do not know that an observatory was included in the design which affords great views of the surrounding area; in particular those obtained along the lanes that lead from it
Obviously, these are not the only places to visit; there are plenty of others to keep you occupied but to make the most of your time, use one of the guided tours. Most people find their Paris short stay vacations exciting but only see a glimpse of what’s on offer; anything that’s missed will have to take a rain check.
