If you happen to be completely new to running an internet business, then you should already have heard the term article marketing. Article marketing is a way that the regular Joes like you and I can get a foothold in niche markets. Sometimes you may hear from others that article marketing is not longer effective or that by submitting your article to numerous article directories only results in duplicate content, and which may put your site at risk of being de-indexed by search engines.

But putting aside the arguments that rage for and against duplicate content just now, article marketing is still as effective as any other promotional or traffic strategy being used today. Promotional strategies are constantly changing, yet the strength of article marketing remains because the foundations of the World Wide Web are built on it. Plus the WWW is always in need of fresh and relevant content.

Each and every day millions of potential customers are going online searching for information. By giving these potential customers the information they want you are placing yourself in a position from which you can profit. By writing many articles you will soon attact a steady stream of traffic to your websites. It’s then just down to your site whether you convert that traffic into sales.

Article marketing cost you little or nothing as a way for you to promote a product or a website that you have and anyone is able to do it. It is the ideal way of getting targeted traffic to you as long as you are willing to work at it over a period of time and consistently.

By writing informative articles using well-researched keywords in whatever niche you select, you can gain more exposure and higher search engine rankings. But, just submitting the same article over and over to hundreds of article repositories and niche websites can dilute the effectiveness of your article marketing efforts.

The real key to article marketing success is to submit unique versions of your articles to the different directories and websites. Daunting as this may sound the results are truly extraordinary and well worth the effort. Gone are the risks of duplicate content and slippage of ranking. While the definition of what constitutes duplicate content continues to be the subject of hot debate, many experienced webmasters are comfortable with ranges above 30%.

Yet the greater the difference between each article written, then the better this is for your online business. However, you need to keep in mind that the spiders used by top search engines not only review entire web pages but also will look at other elements on a page and take these into consideration. So even a small 30% change between one article and the next can being more than sufficient to avoid yours being ignored.

Submitting unique versions of any articles you write is the best way when it comes to article marketing. Not only will you be getting more targeted traffic to your website, but the boost in your sites search engine rankings also tends to last for longer because of the backlinks built through you marketing articles which are unique.
