Hawaiian Wedding Dresses Guide
To accommodate the warm climate of Hawaii, wedding dresses there can be a white long-sleeved gown or even a floral printed spaghetti dress. The old days were much stricter though, as the holoku or holokeg was the only available option for Hawaiian females to wear on the day of their wedding.
The holoku is a long-sleeved gown with a long train at the back. The cloth is made from pure silk, as introduced by the Chinese people during their stay in Hawaii many years ago. Its tight-fitting dress used to be exclusive for Hawaiian queens. Today, girls of all ages in Hawaii are allowed to wear the royal outfit. It became so common that people on the island started wearing it every day.
There is little difference between the old holoku and its new version. Many of the added design found on the new holoku are just updates to make it catch up with the latest fashion trends. One holoku style has a shorter hemline and no sleeves, making it an ideal bridal outfit for beach weddings.
On the other hand, the more modern Hawaiian wedding dress features the very relaxing sarong. Its breathable fabric makes it best worn for a typical Hawaiian wedding at the coast. Sarongs are huge clothes that wrap beautifully against the body. It is very adjustable with the hemline going all the way down to the ankles. Some styles of this Hawaiian wedding dress can be worn more conveniently as they have buttons or snaps attached to them.
Finding any of these Hawaiian wedding dresses is not so challenging to do. Hawaiian garment shops usually include them in their selection. You can also turn to search engines online to run a search of these unique clothing. You’ll realize that several websites feature them as products and some of them even offer discounted rates.
