Why and How Does Reiki Work?
Reiki. Hmph. Another one of those new-agey, wacky alternative medicines that gullible people spend all their money on. I very seriously doubt it will work, don’t you?
That’s a popular type of thinking about Reiki and alternative medicine in general. And it’s pretty appealing to the logical, scientific brains of our time. Except for one dilemma…Reiki does work and millions of people could say from personal experience that this is true.
How does Reiki work? What a question. We are in the Age of Reason here, folks. We are in the Age of Scientific Experimentation. Now let’s be logical. You can’t see Reiki. You can’t hear it. It has no medicine. It has no drugs. There is no cutting or surgery in Reiki. We can’t even do a scientific experiment on it because we can’t even pin down what it is. Simply said, Reiki cannot work… And so it doesn’t.
Except that it does.
Now if we look at Reiki we find that it originated in Japan a long time ago. It is used to heal maladies of the physical body as well as those of the spirit. Now that makes us skeptical. First, what did those ancient relics know about medicine. And second how do you mix the body with the spirit. It can’t be done, and shouldn’t be done. It’s just not scientific. In addition, Reiki is a technique where you lay your hands on a person and use your life-energy to help someone else’s life-energy to flow more freely. Now that’s got to be a lot of bunk. Anyone would agree, right.
Well it now appears that science itself is coming up with a good and scientific theory to answer the question ‘How does Reiki work?’ Because Reiki actually does work. And the explanation is coming from the new and pioneer field of high-energy physics. (Hmm. Physics, huh?) As these scientists talk about high-energy physics, they bandy about terms like ’subatomic matter’, ‘unpolarized’ and ‘vortex’ theory. From all of this, one gets the strong impression that there is some kind of energy flowing- energy that is way too small for us to detect by our standard methods of measurement.
Now this energy can’t be seen, but it can certainly be felt. If you are being practiced on, for instance, you will often feel a spreading warmth, or even cold sensation in the area that is being worked on. On the other hand, if you are the practitioner, you will often feel a pins and needles kind of tingling warm sensation.
Now if we take a better look, we may find that Reiki has a lot more credibility than we realize. For instance do you remember the bible and the laying on of hands? It sounds like Reiki to me. How about you? It makes you wonder if maybe the people in the days of yore were not so simple-minded as we thought. Perhaps , when you look at it, they were actually quite smart and enlightened. For instance, they knew enough to figure out- if it works, don’t worry about why or how- just use it. Not a bad thought for the Age of Reason to ponder, is it?
