Tips For Buying A New Tennis Racquet.
Tennis racquet manufacturers ofter a wide range to choose from therefore it is wise to gather a little knowledge about the different types before making a purchase.
But it’s not just your game that can be adversely affected by your choice of racquet - it’s also possible to permanently injure yourself if you make the wrong buying decision. Hopefully, this article can give you at least a little guidance if you have no idea what to look for.
There are three different types of racquet to choose from. Beginners should go for a power racquet. Intermediates should look at tweener racqets and for the advanced player, a control racquet is the best choice.
It’s also possible to change the dynamics of a tennis racquet by having it re-strung with different types/patterns of strings. Of course, this should always be done by a professional and it shouldn’t cost too much.
The power racquet usually has a larger head - which of course is designed to give less experienced players more chance of hitting the ball! They also usually have a slightly heavier head which also makes it easier for beginners to make the right shot.
Tweener racquets have a variety of head sizes but they are usually a little longer and lighter than power racquets. Again, they give the player more control but it takes time, practice and experience to be able to use them efficiently if one is a beginner.
Control racquets often have a higher overall weight and smaller heads - but they give the advanced player increased ability. Overall, it’s well worth taking the advice of someone who is experienced (such as an assistant in a good shop) when choosing a new racquet.
It’s also a good idea to at least gather a little knowledge regarding head size and grip size, string type and pattern, overall length of the racquet and racquet flexibility, balance and weight.
