All about H.Upmann Cuban cigars

A Cuban cigar brand name that is shared by two organizations, the H. Upmann brand is one of the most sought after popular Cuban cigars around. One organization is located in Cuba and the other in the Dominican. However, don’t be confused because the only thing they have in common is the name. The H. Upmann from Cuba is one of the best cigars you can smoke.

The H. Upmann cigars brand can trace its history the whole way back to 1844 although there are a lot of conflicting reports about how it got its start. One of the more interesting reports is that there were two German brothers that were bankers who moved to Havana. These brothers also happened to be avid cigar smokers and they started H. Upmann cigars in order to use it as a promotional avenue for their banking business.

The H. Upmann produces a variety of cigars from short to long to the really tiny ones. However, it is the big hand rolled Cuban cigars that people love and crave. The H.Upmman No 2s is probably the most wide selling Cuban cigar box of all time. I have a customer who gets these every three days and just loves them. It is the feel of a big strong cigar with a think ring guage but with surprisingly mild to medium flavors that people appreciate.

After Mr. Kennedy set an embargo of US and Cuban trade, the whole Cuban cigar trading died with it and a lot of hearts were broken. Especially when you consider that the US is the biggest market for Cuban cigars, even after the ban! I can’t believe or imagine the mindset John was in when he decided to put a trade embargo ban on Cuba considering he was one of the biggest fans of the H. Upmann brand. Even after the ban, he sent out his general to get him thousands of boxes so he can have his very own stash if you may of fine Cuban cigars.

Regardless the uncertain history, no real Cuban cigar lovers can deny the taste and beautiful construction of the H. Upmann’s. A crowd of well established and successful individuals is what this brand represents. From the big names in Hollywood to the movers and shakers in the political spectrum, the H. Upmann represents power, strength and class.
