How To Install Your Blinds

Now that you have considered getting blinds for your home, do not be daunted by the purchase or installation process. Everything will be just fine as long as you take the right measurements and are handy with a hammer and screwdriver.

Installing blinds is pretty simple and straightforward, without any complicated steps involved. It does not matter whether you are male or female, or what age you is.

The first step, even before making a purchase, is to take measurements of the window where the blinds will be installed. You will require these measurements for the proper fit when it comes to the height and width of the blind. If your calculations are incorrect, you could end up with a blind that is either too wide or too long. Once you have all of your measurements, then it is time to purchase your brand new blinds.

After you have them and bring them home, it is time to start the installation process.

Before you start putting brackets up and creating holes in your walls, get a pencil. Now hold your blinds up at the exact spot that you want them to hang. Use the pencil to make a very light, very small mark on the wall where the brackets will go, on either side of the blinds. This will help guarantee that the brackets are installed in the right spot at the right height, so that your blinds look and fit perfect. Now get your hammer and screwdriver out, because these come into play during the next step.

Now attach the brackets to the wall where you have made your pencil marks. The brackets are normally installed using 4 small screws. Sometimes it is not easy to get the screws into the wall so just tap them gently with the hammer to get them started and then continue using the screwdriver. Ensure that the brackets are lined up with the marks on the wall so that they are far enough apart to hold the blinds. This may seem obvious, but in order for the blind to slide into the bracket the open side of the bracket must be facing front at the time of installation.

At this time you will be installing the blinds into the brackets. They should slide easily into the open ends of the brackets and they should also feel snug and secure. There is a small piece used to slide over the open side of the brackets that will lock the blinds in place and give your blinds a finished look.

Stand back and admire your handiwork. What an accomplishment to have installed your lovely new blinds all by yourself.
