Small Business Owners – What Are You Afraid Of?

We’re in an economic downturn; a slump in the economy; bad economic times and the list goes on. Did you ever stop to think how this really affects your business? I mean really; not just believing all the naysayers but day to day what it means to your bottom line. My guess is nothing. It [...]

Aardvarks, Dentists, And Cartoons

Londons Times Cartoons is loaded with animal images, but none is more popular and funny than the aardvark. Aardvark Dentistry is the name of one of their most classic favorites and the cartoonist has decided to do a little research on the aardvark. This is the fascinating information he found. If you are looking for aardvarks, you need to go south of the Sahara Desert in Africa. “Earth Pig” is what the Africans call them, and, in fact, the name ardvark means “earth pig”. So, makes sense to me. Their body somewhat resembles a pig which probably has a lot to do with that. But why they call them earth pigs, since regular pigs do not fly (to my knowledge) is beyond me. Their tails resemble a kangaroo’s and ears like a rabbit. Aardvarks stay inside, whatever that is during the day.

Top Ten Reasons My Parents Didn’t Want Me To Be A Cartoonist

“Congratulations, Ms. London,” I used to joke that the OB/GYN told my mom, “It’s a Realtor”. My parents owned a very old real estate stable family real estate company and were from a generation where, if and when an offspring arrived, especially a male, they were born to be bred.that is, bred into the family business, or made to be the prodigal son.

Should Humor Be Used In Corporate Gifts?

Your career and name are important to you, as is how people perceive you. How many coffee mugs day planners, gourmetgift baskets, and other “expected” corporate gifts have you sent? I can bet too many. And here’s why.

How One Cartoonist Made A Difference After 9/11

Londons Times Cartoons founder, Rick London, like many other creative souls such as Elvis, John Grisham, William Faulkner, B.B. King and many others, was born and raised in rural Mississippi. His early formal education surely did not teach him what he knows today. When we met, he was not yet a cartoonist, but a well-known playright and businessman, living inside the beltway, who had founded an interesting bus tour business in in the late 1980′s. I was just beginning my writing career at the time, and he was getting major media coverage worldwide so I stood in line for an interview. He made time for me on the same day he made time for “Inside Edition”, then hosted by Bill O’Reilly. Rick was and is a gentleman.

A Thong In My Heart

by Rick London Some guys do things the same all their lives. Women too. We mimic our parents. My mom bought me plain white stretch briefs as underwear all through my childhood, so when I grew into an adult, I bought them too. Little did I know what a fashion sin I was causing. Midlife, [...]

Building Self-esteem, Even If You’ve Never Had It

by Rick London If I said self-esteem could do wonders for your self-esteem you’d probably think I was pulling your leg, or I made a mistake in typing. I did not. Many feel that a person is born with it, or maybe was popular in grade school and held onto that for the rest of [...]

The Zen, History, & Positive Energy Of Paper Greeting Cards

by Alexa Ferotina f sending greeting cards began in ancient Asia and Egypt. The cards were not really cards at all. They actually hand-written messages of good cheer on papyrus scrolls for New Years, the only day celebrated with such a “card”. In the 15th Century, in Germany wood-sculpted New Years cards were exchanged. Later [...]

Why People Should Salute The Far Side’s Gary Larson….still

by Rick London When in the mood, I can talk about my favorite Far Sides all night, Only several humorists influenced me greatly before Londons Times Cartoons became my pet prroject. Others who influenced me a great deal were the original cast members of Saturday Night Live, a former roommie in New York, Patrick Weathers [...]

Happiness: As Good As It Gets

by Rick London Recently a friend sent me an email asking me my secret to happiness. It took me by surprise as I didn’t have an answer. I can remember a time in my life when my moods would swing, I had depression, but I was treated and do not live with that now. But [...]
